Erin Morley Stancill, MSW
Erin brings a deep well of curiosity and genuine enjoyment to her relationships with her clients. After more than a decade as an advertising writer and creative director, she sought a career that aligned with the most meaningful aspects of the human experience. She feels fortunate to join clients as they seek to better understand themselves, to be authentically known by others, and to recognize patterns that may be holding them back.
Erin acknowledges that the events of the world often intersect with personal history and can affect our emotional wellbeing-particularly for women, nonwhite people, members of the LGBTQ+ communities and individuals with disabilities.
While training as a psychodynamic therapist in a college setting, Erin developed a particular interest in issues of attachment and identity particularly as they relate to loneliness, relationship challenges, anxiety and depression. This experience continues to inform her work with people of all ages. As women, it can be difficult to differentiate our own needs and wants from the real or perceived expectations of others. This can be further complicated when our own life path diverges geographically, educationally, culturally or socioeconomically from our family of origin.
Erin has clinical experience with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, grief, fertility issues, somatic symptoms, ADHD and autism spectrum disorders. Regardless of what brings clients to therapy, Erin understands that one of her most fundamental responsibilities is to provide a space and a relationship that is calming to their nervous system. Often clients find themselves wading into uncomfortable material or feelings in therapy and managing that discomfort is most effective when there is an established feeling of safety and acceptance within the relationship.
